形態特徵

• Perennial, loosely tufted with short woody rhizome. Culms robust, 60-150 cm tall, trigonous, smooth.
• Leaves nearly equalling culm; blades linear, 6-12 mm wide, flattish plicate, herbaceous; sheaths purple-brown.
• Corymbs compound to decompound, 15-20 cm long, with 4 to 10 primary rays 3- 18 cm long; raylets 1-4 cm long; spikes cylindrical 2-5 cm long, 7-10 mm thick, bearing many spikelets; leafy bracts 3-6, lowest few surpassing corymb. Spikelets patent, lanceolate-oblong, flattened, 4-8 mm long, 1-1.5 mm wide, 6- to 20-flowered, straw-colored and brownish tinged; rachilla with pale, subtranslucent wings.
• Glumes ovate, 1.5 mm long, membranaceous, straw colored and tinged with brown, 3- or 5-nerved, green keel forming a mucro at apex. Achenes oblong-obovate, trigonous, 1/2 as long as glume; style slender, elongated; stigmas 3. Stamens 3.

• 台灣 : Wet open grasslands, often seen in rice fields.
• 世界 : India, Malesia, Africa.
